As a union representative for an Oregon health care union, it’s clear our insurance company-dominated health care system is on life support.
Oregonians need political leadership that will Trump-proof our health care system with a permanent solution: a simple, equitable, affordable single-payer universal health care system.
Dr. Tammy Carpenter, candidate for Oregon House District 27, is done with Band-Aid fixes. Her staunch support for a universal health care system is exactly what Oregon’s health care workers and patients need. Right now, Oregon’s Universal Health Plan Governance Board is developing that universal plan.
That’s only half the battle.
Come 2027, when the governance board refers their plan to legislators in Salem, corporate interests will lobby hard to stop universal single-payer coverage.
According to the Secretary of State, the Oregon Business & Industry association alone gave Oregon political candidates over $1.6 million since the original ballot measure passed in 2023.
We need a strong fighter like Tammy in Salem who can’t be swayed by these corporate-backed lobbyists. Oregon’s health care workers and patients depend on it.
